How to Remove Powered By Blogger or Customize Blogger Attribution Widget

Blogger is probably the mostly used blogging platform. As it is a service of Google, it comes with Greater SEO and Design. You may use custom template or provided by default template. Whatever you use, there will be a Attribution Widget. That will show you “Powered by Blogger”. It usually appears in the Footer section and does not look so bad. But in case of custom template it may appear anywhere. That will ultimately hamper the design of your website.  Recently I switched from simple template to a Windows metro style template. Then I saw that the Blogger Attribution Widget in the sidebar. As that template had no footer. This tutorial will show you How to Remove “Powered By Blogger”.

So when you remove it, Make sure to Keep a attribution link to Blogger. It will respect the Copyright. Although some says that you are free to remove that.

How To Remove Blogger Attribution Gadget:

When you tried to remove it, you will notice you can not edit Follow the below steps to edit the Attribution gadget.

1. Go to Blogger Dashboard > Template from the left panel.

2. Download a copy of your template in case anything goes wrong.
3. Click on Edit HTML.
4. Tick “Expand Widget Templates” check box

Now search for below code in your template:

6. Change the value true to false. Now save your template.
7. Now go to Layout Page.
8. Click on the Edit link of Attribution widget. You will find the button “Remove”, Now remove it.

Ok, If you want to get it back, you need to add code manually. In the Layout section click on the Add a Gadget and Choose Add HTML or Java Script. Paste the Attribution text and Link here as you wish. A simple example is given below.
